MISSED LESSONS: Please, inform the conservatory office of anticipated missed lessons as early as possible.
MAKE-UP LESSONS: Students are allowed two(2) discretionary reschedulings for each of the Spring and Fall terms.
No additional make-up lessons will be guaranteed unless your teacher
volunteers their time, and no refunds will be given for additional
missed lessons.
NO-SHOWS: A "no-show" is when a student misses a lesson without giving
reasonable notice, including calling just before or during the scheduled
lesson time. No-shows will not be made up. (Please remember that when
students in college skip class, they do not receive refunds. The studio
time and the teacher's time have been reserved, and the school must
still pay the teacher even when the student skips class.)
Due to unexpected circumstances, or professional obligations, a teacher may need to be absent. Any
lessons that are canceled by the teacher will be made-up at a time that
is convenient for both student and teacher. If a situation arises
where a teacher misses a lesson and it is not made up during the same
semester, that lesson cost will be credited to the student's account.
Alternatively, the J.A.M. Music Conservatory may provide a highly
qualified and experienced substitute who will ensure the proper
continuity of students' classes.
Remember that students are only charged for 48 weeks out of the year.
These policies apply to those 48 weeks, leaving FOUR (4) WEEKS per year
that are not paid for, and therefore do not need to be rescheduled or
made-up.
WITHDRAWAL: There are no contracts, but if you wish to withdraw from lessons, a 30-DAY NOTICE is requested. You should at least be prepared to finish out the month once you've made the decision to withdraw.
STAFF: We employ qualified and experienced professional
musicians and teachers. Often, they perform with professional
orchestras and ensembles, and sometimes teach for several institutions.
As a result of having in-demand personnel, there may be times when
professional obligations require them to restrict their teaching
schedules and make temporary changes. We will do our best to avoid
disruptions in lessons, but if the need arises we may ask a student to
allow a schedule change.
PARENT OBSERVATION:
Parents are always welcome to observe the private lessons.
Parent/teacher conferences may be scheduled at the discretion of both
parent and teacher, and the Conservatory facilities may be used for such
conferences.
WAITING AREA: The waiting area is provided as a courtesy
to the students and parents, and it is expected that everyone wait
quietly and not disturb ongoing lessons. Please drop off students no
more than five minutes before the scheduled lesson time, and pick them
up promptly. Food, drinks, and roughhousing are not permitted in the
waiting room or in the studios.
